According to Wired, "[a]s astronomers go, Ray Jay, his nickname in the tight-knit community -- is a rock star."  He is a popular speaker and frequent commentator, and is also known for organizing innovative science outreach programs such as the CoolCosmos astronomy poster campaign that ran on Toronto transit vehicles.
