Toronto, ON: Presentation on The Potential of Aerial Robots

Date: 1/28/2015
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

University of Toronto Alumni and Friends are invited to a presentation titled

The Potential of Aerial Robots

by

Professor Angela Schoellig
Assistant Professor, Institute for Aerospace Studies
University of Toronto

In the last decade, there has been a major shift in the perception, use and predicted applications of aerial robots. Driven by technological advances in batteries, processors, sensors and materials, aerial robots have developed into small, affordable, increasingly capable and social companions (contrary to their military counterparts!). Application areas of these new flying robots range from aerial photography and cinematography to resource monitoring and package delivery.

In her talk, Prof. Schoellig will highlight the state of the art in aerial robotics, the potential of aerial robotics, current challenges (both technological and legal) and, most importantly, show her research results related to high-performance flight of groups of robots (have a look here to get a first impression: https://www.youtube.com/user/angelaschoe).

There is no cost to attend.

Program:
6:00 pm - registration and a light meal
6:15 pm - presentation and Q & A
